We are delighted to share that Zebra Uno Co-Director, Nikki Stratton, has been nominated for the Contribution to Society Award!

Nominated by Louise Rhodes MBE, the award highlights Nikki’s contribution to the lives of deaf people. It recognises Nikki’s work through Zebra Uno Ltd, the company which she and her business partner Marilyn Willrich own.

Zebra Uno Ltd is an independent company specialising in Media and Communication. With more than 11 million people in the UK with some form of hearing loss, Zebra Uno’s goal is to break down barriers by raising awareness of deaf people, across the UK from their base in Wolverhampton. Founded in 2003, the company continues to provide both Media and Interpreting services for clients all over the UK.

“This is to express my personal thanks for the award nomination and to Louise Rhodes for nominating me which came as a great surprise! I’m honoured to receive this nomination for the recognition of my work for the Deaf community. I am grateful to the University of Wolverhampton’s Deaf Studies and Linguistics department, for facilitating the course which equipped me for the start of my 20-year career journey, which includes establishing my business Zebra Uno, along with the other organisations founded along the way i.e. Deaffest. The support from the CSU where communication access was provided also ensured that access to learning was a positive experience. It would not have been possible to have completed the course without their support – so a big thank you.” Nikki Stratton, Co-Director of Zebra Uno

We will let you know the outcome when The Awards Ceremony takes place online on 16th June!
