Last month marked the conclusion of Zebra Uno’s inspiring six-week Deaf Culture and British Sign Language (BSL) training course, held in the Cotswolds. Throughout the course, participants explored the fundamentals of BSL, learned about Deafness and effective communication strategies, and gained meaningful insights into Deaf culture and community.
“I’m incredibly proud of my amazing students who put in so much dedication and enthusiasm throughout the course. It was such a joy to watch them develop their signing skills and grow in confidence. We wrapped up the final session with a lively game of BSL Chinese Whispers, which brought plenty of laughter (and a few happy tears)! My aim was to offer a genuine understanding of Deaf culture and help participants feel confident using BSL – and it’s been so rewarding to see how much they’ve achieved.” – Nikki Stratton, Co-Founder of Zebra Uno
Here’s what some of our students had to say:
– “I loved every minute of the training and I think this should be made compulsory in schools.”
– “Absolutely brilliant course – pitched just right. Would love to carry on! Thank you Nikki!”
– “A thoroughly enjoyable experience and such a positive insight in to the Deaf community. Nikki is so creative and inspiring in her approach to teaching.”
– “Thank you Nikki – the training was excellent!”
