“Deaf Director of Zebra-Uno scoops TV Award for
Best Female Presenter”

Nikki Stratton, Director of her own company Zebra-Uno scooped a TV Award last Saturday at the Remark! Film and TV Awards for Best Female Presenter.

More than 1,000 people from all over the nation attended the event, which took place in London. Some attendees were Deaf and rely upon British Sign Language. The event promoted the Deaf Media and awards were presented to talented artistes in areas of Acting, Presenting and Directing etc. Further details of the event can be found at:

Nikki was delighted to win the award as she has worked as a TV presenter for five years on Channel 4’s “Vee TV” programme, which is due to return to our screens in spring 2006. Her recognition is also thanks to her role as a TV British Sign Language Interpreter for the “Powerpuff girls” on Cartoon Network and also for a variety of children’s programmes on CBeebies.

Nikki states that winning the award is a real boost for her company’s profile as they provide training and presenting/translating services related to media at Zebra-Uno which is based at S/Parks at the Wolverhampton Science Park. Her business partner Marilyn Bueno Del Carpio also attended the Awards and was ecstatic when Nikki won! All of Nikki’s fans and supporters rallied round and were overjoyed when she was announced the winner!

Nikki wants to thank the public for their support by voting for her. The Remark event also raised money for the NSPCC from both the voting and tickets.
