Bim Ajadi wins the Ben Steiner Bursary Award!

May 2009

Following a fascinating and jam packed weekend on the Ben Steiner Bursary scheme, each candidate was asked to develop a film idea, which would later be pitched in front of a panel of media practitioners and film makers.

With only two weeks to prepare their film treatment, storyline and pitch, each candidate was then put before the panel’s scrutiny.

Each candidate delivered outstanding pitches, which left the panel with the difficult task of selecting the winner.

Deaffest are proud to announce that the winner of the first Ben Steiner Bursary is Bim Ajadi. Congratulations!

Deaffest are proud to announce the first Ben Steiner Bursary programme weekend!

April 2009

The Ben Steiner Bursary programme weekend is designed to enable Deaf media practitioners the opportunity to gain a greater understanding and to develop new skills with the ambition to direct and produce their very own film ideas.

The programme will involve a variety of media related topics that will be delivered by highly profiled media training organisations with extensive experience and specialist knowledge within the field of media.

Deaffest feel this is an excellent gateway for Deaf filmmakers to be able to thrive on competition and present their film ideas, in a professional manner, to a panel of media practitioners. The winner to receive the bursary of £5,000 will have the opportunity to produce their film, which will then be showcased as a premiere exclusively at Deaffest 2009!
